Cosmetic Surgery

The 1 in 5 Factor of Nose Cosmetic Surgery

If you think that getting a nose cosmetic surgery is one simple outpatient procedure, think again. Statistics show that 1 out of every 5 nose cosmetic surgery patients go back for a 2nd or 3rd treatment. Why?

They may not be satisfied with the first result. Though professionals, anyone can imagine the difficulty of reshaping a nose. Some adjustments require the use of chisels, blades and the actual removal of bone cartilage. Though the cosmetic surgeons will do everything possible to build the nose as you desire, there may be some small tweaking that needs to be made after the swelling has subsided.

There may have been residual damage done to the tear ducts or the area known as the nasal septum. This damage is hard to detect while the healing is taking place. Damage to the tear ducks will cause constant watering of the eyes. Damage to the nasal septum, which is the wall inside the nose that separates the 2 passages, can cause a whistling sound when breathing through the nose, oozing, and blockage of the passage way as it tries to develop scabs to heal.

There Has Been Too Much Manipulation. A good case in point is the Michael Jackson nose. Here was a man who just could not decide how his nose should look. The more cosmetic nose surgery he undertook the worse it became; ultimately ending with it’s total collapse that required major Revision rhinoplasty surgery to rebuild and put cartilage back in.

There is Unexpected Scarring – Most of the cuts on the nose are designed to cause the scarring to happen on the inside of the nose. Yet, it is difficult to determine just how those scars will in fact heal. Some may appear as small pumps underneath the skin, others may grow to the point of obstructing the air passage in the nostril. Some have even been known to push the nose slightly to the left or right. Though most scarring is minimal, the cases mentioned above will require further surgery in an effort to complete the cosmetic benefits of getting the nose job done in the first place.
