Baby signing
for beginners
Research has shown that using
sign language to communicate with pre-lingual babies and young
children allows them to share their feelings and thoughts with
their carers long before they are able to use speech. This is due
to the muscles in a child’s hand developing before those
that enable them to speak. In practice continued use has
shown that the child’s ability to learn may be enhanced through
using this total communication approach. This course is for practitioners
who want to start communicating with babies and young children
using signs sourced directly from British Sign Language.
