Dear Garry
Re: Introduction to BSL 2004
As an absolute beginner, I was reluctant to embark
on a certificated programme, but figured that committing to a 12-hour
course was a good way to establish if I would be any good at learning
BSL.
I was self-conscious at the beginning of the course.
I was not prepared for the language being so physical or being watched
to closely by others! However, the pace of the class kept me motivated
and I began to thoroughly enjoy the challenge. Learning from a hearing
instructor was reassuring as when we got stuck, we could ask in English
and receive the reply in BSL until our knowledge and confidence grew.
I looked forward to the weekly games, consolidating our newly learned
signs and ensuring our group interacted. No matter how ham-fisted
I felt about my signing, I was always encouraged to relax and keep
focussed and never felt stupid.
Your course was fun, and brilliant value for money.
At the end of the course, I was delighted that I could sign a simple
conversation and sign a song. As a direct result of attending your
short course, I had the confidence to enrol on BSL Stage 1. I am
half way through my course, love every class, and fully intend to
complete Level 2.
Well done and thank you for your kind support and
encouragement.
